Representative Raymond Crews named Legislator of the Year by the Louisiana Council on Aging Directors Association

The Bossier Council on Aging is proud to announce that two local leaders have received prestigious statewide recognition from the Louisiana Council on Aging Directors Association (LACOADA) for their outstanding contributions to seniors in Bossier Parish and across Louisiana.

Executive Director Tamara Crane was honored with the Thomas Laughlin Award, one of the highest recognitions in the aging network. The award is named in honor of Thomas Crofton Laughlin, a longtime leader of the Jefferson Council on Aging who spent decades advocating for older adults and strengthening services for seniors throughout Louisiana.

The award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, advocacy, and commitment to improving the lives of seniors. Crane was selected for her continued work advancing services in Bossier Parish while also contributing to statewide initiatives through LACOADA.

In addition, State Representative Raymond Crews was named Legislator of the Year by LACOADA. This honor recognizes his strong support of senior services, including securing a $50,000 one-time funding allocation for the Bossier Council on Aging.

That funding directly expanded the agency’s home-delivered meal program, allowing seniors to receive seven meals per week—one every day. This initiative not only improves daily nutrition for homebound seniors but also positions the organization to pursue additional funding opportunities aimed at sustaining year-round meal service for those most in need.

“These recognitions reflect the power of partnership and advocacy,” said Tamara Crane, Executive Director of the Bossier Council on Aging. “We are incredibly proud to represent Bossier Parish at the state level and remain committed to ensuring our seniors receive the care, dignity, and support they deserve.”

The Bossier Council on Aging continues to provide vital services including home-delivered meals, transportation, wellness programs, and senior center activities—serving as a critical resource for older adults and their families throughout the parish.
